Students must be 15-17 and eligible for a VOE.
Do not sign up if they cannot get a VOE!
DPS will not issue a permit if they do not have a VOE from their school. The VOE is tied to attendance and grades. If they have excessive absences and/or failing grades then they may not be able to get this form! The VOE is only good for 30 days so get it right before the classroom begins. Please do not bring the form to us, We do not need to see this form as it is for DPS when they get their permit.
ALL devices (phones/Apple watches/ Air pods, etc.) are in the console while in the vehicle and up-front while in the classroom. There is no access to them. Students must be able to follow instructions and behave appropriately. If you miss class there will be make-up work issued with clear directions and due date. No make-up work will be accepted the day before or day of final. They CANNOT miss the first six hours of Texas Law.
We offer the road test for licenses when they’re ready as we are a DPS approved Third Party Facility. The testing is an additional fee so contact us when they’re eligible to test. If your child took the course with us, they received their final certificate, forms, and instructions on their last driving lesson.

FULL TEEN COURSE
If paying with card through website the cost is $470. We offer a $20 discount for cash payment at the office. Includes all 24 hours of classroom with an instructor, 14 hours in-vehicle (7 hours behind-the-wheel & 7 hours observation), certificates, forms and instructions for every step to licensing. You CANNOT miss the first six hours of Texas Law. If you are paying with a card then you pay through the website. No card pay will be accepted at the office. All contracts must be signed before students have a guaranteed place in class. Contact the office at 979-299-0030 to make an appointment to sign the contract whether you paid online or are paying cash.
PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN YOUR CHILD CAN ATTEND THE CLASS SESSION YOU PAID FOR AS WE DO NOT SWITCH STUDENTS ONCE A SESSION HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION. THERE WILL BE THE $50 ADMIN PLUS $150 FOR A TOTAL OF $200 IF YOUR ORIGINAL CLASS SESSION WAS CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION. THIS IS BECAUSE YOU TOOK A SPOT ANOTHER STUDENT COULD HAVE USED BUT WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE CLASS WAS FULL.
DRIVING PORTION ONLY
Behind-the-Wheel Only option costs $420 cash. Parent must sign the contract, bring the student permit, classroom completion record and classroom completion certificate. Student will have 120 days to complete the required driving. This covers the 14 hours required (7 hours in-vehicle and 7 hours observation). No refunds will be issued once driving begins. Driving certificate will be issued with instructions for getting a license.
Why Gulf Coast Driving Academy?
We take pride in providing the best and most conscientious driving instruction available.
After the first six hours students take the written required DPS test with us and then a parent/guardian can take them to DPS to get a permit. Scheduling driving lessons can begin when you have a permit and there is driving availability that works with your schedule. Our scheduled generally runs two weeks ahead. Beginning classes summer 2026, they have 120 days to complete the driving.
We do not put ANYONE ahead of others for driving times. Everyone is busy, everyone has reasons to want to get signed up quickly. However, no one is more important than anyone else. If you have any custody issues, camps, extra-curricular activities, work, etc. you will still have to follow the rules for scheduling. Students are limited to twice a week to begin driving and no night driving until skills are acceptable.
If you pay on-line, your financial institution may process your payment as: GCDA LLC, PayPal, Square, Apple Pay, or Gulf Coast Driving Academy.
When eligible for your license, we offer the road skills test for an additional fee.
